Se busca implicación en una acción global coordinada con grupos de otros paíse europeos con motivo del próximo encuentro sobre cambio climático en Copenhague. Os reevío el email que me llega desde dinamarca!:

The Global Freezing Idea

What:

"Climate flash mob freeze" in as many countries as possible at 11:55am on the Global Day of Action

Plans are being made in Copenhagen, the city where the most important Climate Conference yet will be held in 2009, to do a symbolic 'freeze' in a public space- the main central station of Copenhagen. The idea with flash-mobs is that they are a surprise, an unexpected change in the usual course of action, which makes people stop and think. This freeze will mirror an action that will have taken place in the UN climate negotiations being held in Poznan, Poland, this 1-12 December. There, hundreds of young people are planning on doing a freeze, inside the official conference buildings, to contrast with the crazy pace of the negotiations that are still rushing us towards a planet in crisis. They will also do another freeze on the Global Day of Action at 11:55am and we want to make this a global event- global freezing!!

Why:

Many things need to be stopped in the current course towards climate catastrophe. We think having a 'freeze', particularly if it happens all over the world, is an effective and simple way of showing this. In Copenhagen they're using the message 'Stop Global Warming' and the idea of 'Stop and think about what action we can take'. There are many possible messages that could be tied in with the symbolic action of 'freezing'. Such as:
- Freeze global emissions
- STOP business as usual
- STOP coal power
- STOP carbon trading
Please think of any other ideas that suit your local context! You could incorporate this messaging by having a big banner, or hand-held signs, or some other creative way.

Who:

Our idea is that this could become a global action, taking place in many cities and towns across the world. Everyone can start one!! It would be great if they were all filmed, and we could put together a really amazing film at the end of all the different 'freezes' and messages across the world!

When:

At 11:55am on the Global Day of Action, 6th December. The Global Day of Action is the day when everyone across the world can express their concern about climate change and desire for a serious change of direction that will actually address the problem.

The time 11:55am is chosen because we have very little time to act, and this is represented by the clock being just about to strike 12!! You can be creative with this concept and think of good ways to express it in your actions!

Contact:

We will set up a facebook event where you can add information about your specific action (post the info on the 'wall' and will add it into the info and make you an editor)- http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=52816476824Or, if you are not a facebook user, let us know about your action plans (contacts below) and we will add them to the list!

We hope everyone gets involved and this can spread far and wide!! Spread the word!
